The Officeworks Showroom was in need of updating — not only in the sense of providing an innovative space for their clients but also in providing an environment cohesive with Herman Miller’s Living Office: The Holistic Solution for the New Landscape of Work. In a sense, the space needed to function on the same principals, but to multiple audiences.
The concept of human-centered integration of work, tools and collaboration led to creating a space to support a total work experience, while achieving a new dynamic of shared prosperity. Opening up the vertical space of two floors visually integrated a multilevel space into one, while providing areas of privacy where required. Plaza spaces were incorporated on both floors, encouraging gathering, collaboration and a personal touch. The showroom was opened up, providing floor space for the ebb and flow of product lines and multiple vignettes. The design of the showroom needed to be dynamic and yet secondary to the product lines that would be highlighted.
Officeworks played a key role in providing product ideas to enable the interior to support current, as well as future, product lines to be on display. Shaw Contract provided flooring systems that smoothly flowed from one pattern and material to another. The success of the project evolved around creating a functional, adaptable, classic space, evolving around the formation of a new work culture.
